eRoadInfo Mobile

eRoadInfo Mobile offers digital roadway imaging at 1280x960 resolution using up to 4 cameras mounted on the roof of the survey vehicle.

The cameras are mounted in enclosed weather-tight housings, on adjustable mounts located on the roof of the vehicle.  This provides for easy access to the cameras, the best viewing angle, and protection from exterior elements.  The cameras are aimed forward, left, and right, providing a full right-of-way view.  The following items can be visible: travel lanes, shoulders, curbs, overhead signs, street signs, speed limit, stop, and regulatory signs, mile markers, pavement markings, commercial signs, vegetation, terrain, and many more road side features.  The camera images can assemble into a continuous 180-degree view.  Optionally, a camera can be mounted rear facing on the vehicle to capture the reverse view.  All of the camera positions are fully adjustable and can be locked down tight once the desired view is achieved.

Typically, the images are captured at 25 ft intervals.  The images are stored as JPEG files.  Each image is approximately 200 kB.  The images will require about 150 MB of disk space per mile when 3 sets of images are acquired at the 25 ft interval.

The images' position and orientation attributes are captured into a database along with the data.  The data can be easily transported from the in-vehicle computer to a central network using a network connection or removable hard drive.
